They have a structure that goes to places in the body that need regeneration, providing repair and healing. In recent years, stem cells have begun to be used in many fields of medicine, giving rise to new hopes for many diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Stem cell therapy has become a new hope in severe erectile dysfunction. Stem cells taken from the patient&#8217;s own body and injected into the penis with a needle provide permanent and restorative treatment in erectile dysfunction. Stem cells transform into whichever structure of cells in the penis has a problem (such as vascular cells, nerve cells, and muscle cells), providing regeneration and healing there. Stem cell therapy applied in severe erectile dysfunction can, of course, also be applied in mild and moderate erectile dysfunction. In this case, the success rate will be even higher.<\/p>\n<h2>How Is Stem Cell Therapy Applied?<\/h2>\n<p>We mentioned that stem cells are densely found in the body in bone marrows and adipose tissue. Therefore, for stem cell therapy, either fluid is taken by entering the bone marrow with a needle and the stem cells contained within this fluid are used, or fat is collected from around the belly or another fatty region via liposuction and stem cells are obtained from within this adipose tissue. However, since the amount of stem cells taken from the bone marrow is low, the stem cells obtained from this region are multiplied in a laboratory environment and injected into the patient. This means two separate procedures at two separate times. On the other hand, stem cells taken from adipose tissue can be processed through certain procedures in the same session and injected into the patient. We also use stem cells taken from adipose tissue during the operation. The procedure is performed in the following order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The patient is taken to the operating room environment.<\/li>\n<li>It is ensured that the patient feels no pain through local or general anesthesia.<\/li>\n<li>Up to 60 cc of fat is collected from around the belly via liposuction.<\/li>\n<li>This fluid consisting of many structures such as fat, blood, and tissue is drawn into tubes, placed in a centrifuge device, and separated into its required and unrequired components.<\/li>\n<li>By removing the unnecessary parts, the fat is broken down using micron-level blades (non-enzymatic) located between two syringes, mechanically liberating the cells.<\/li>\n<li>The obtained fluid is placed back into the centrifuge device to ensure the separation of stem cells from fat cells, yielding a serum-like fluid containing only stem cells (stromal vascular fraction).<\/li>\n<li>The obtained fluid is injected into the tubes (cavernous bodies) inside the patient&#8217;s penis that fill with blood to enable an erection, and the procedure is concluded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What Are the Results of Stem Cell Therapy?<\/h2>\n<p>Studies conducted have focused on patients who could not benefit from any treatment and whose only chance was having to use a Penile Prosthesis. In this group of patients, an erection sufficient to engage in intercourse was achieved in more than 50% without the need for a Prosthesis. These studies have also shown that the efficacy of SVF therapy reaches a maximum level at the end of the 6th month. Although there are no clinical trials on this subject yet, the consensus of physicians applying this treatment worldwide is that stem cell therapy has a much higher success rate in patients who can achieve an erection with medication or other auxiliary treatments.
